* Oct. 30, 10:30 a.m. — Jennifer Doudna, the 2020 Nobel laureate in chemistry, will speak about her work on CRISPR and its intersections with COVID-19 at the upcoming Distinguished Speaker Series in Research and Innovation. The free, online event, co-organized by the ��ϲ�ͼ�� Office of Research and the School of Medicine, will be live, but registration is required.

New Yorker Art Critic to Give Thiebaud Lecture at ��ϲ�ͼ��

Peter Schjeldahl, art critic for The New Yorker, will give the Betty Jean and Wayne Thiebaud Endowed Lecture at the ��ϲ�ͼ��, Davis, March 10. The lecture, “The Critic as Artist: Updating Oscar Wilde,” is at 4:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The series is named for filmmaker and teacher Betty Jean Thiebaud, wife of Wayne Thiebaud, an internationally recognized artist who taught at ��ϲ�ͼ�� for 30 years. Betty Jean Thiebaud, who served as the model for many of her husband’s paintings, died in December.
