Fraud Alert and Security Steps for Fidelity UC Retirement Accounts

The Retirement Program Services division of the ��ϲ�ͼ�� Office of the President issued the following statement today:

We want to inform UC Retirement Savings Plans recipients of recent reports of fraudulent activity involving UC Retirement Savings Program accounts maintained by Fidelity.

Fidelity’s cybersecurity team has identified the issue, closed the vulnerability, and taken immediate steps to protect all potentially affected accounts. Outreach to the 120 affected participants has begun.

Video Series Aims at Improving Indoor Air Quality

Improving indoor air quality is the goal of a new video series developed by experts at the ��ϲ�ͼ��, Davis in collaboration with the California Department of Public Health. Aimed at building and facility managers, the videos distill the science of air quality into steps building and facility managers can take to remove pollutants, including viruses, from the place we spend most of our time -- indoors.

��ϲ�ͼ�� was tied for 62nd among nearly 2,100 universities in the world and 26th among all American universities. Data was collected on almost 2,900 institutions.

Two Programs Recognized for Helping Remove Costs as Barrier to College

Career Center Changes Name to Better Serve Students

The ��ϲ�ͼ�� Career Center has changed its name as part of its efforts to improve accessibility for students. Executive Director Marcie Kirk Holland explained that the Career Center’s name change from the Internship and Career Center was prompted by student feedback and data from Student Affairs Marketing and Communication, or SAMC.

Students in focus groups hosted by SAMC felt that the word “internship” was implicit to “career” and therefore redundant. Furthermore, the resulting abbreviation was confusing to many students.

Charlie Retires After 10 Years of Play

Charlie, the ��ϲ�ͼ�� Police Department’s first outreach and explosives-detection dog, is retiring after a 10-year career in which he played a key role in changing how the agency interacts with the campus community.

“The dog – he’s changed connections for us,” Police Chief Joe Farrow said. “He bridges that gap between law enforcement and community.”

A community college English assignment to write a poem about herself inspired Celine Gomez to pursue a career in social work and help her community.

Now, Gomez, a graduate of the ��ϲ�ͼ��, Davis, is realizing her ambition through a program to professionalize and add to the corps of social workers at public child welfare agencies in California that, as of July 1, had nearly 65,000 cases.
